"What ails you?!"
―Jeff Sr.'s repeated famous quote

Jeffrey Ridgway Sr., also known as Jeff Ridgway, (born November 15, 1962[1]) or prominently known as Psycho Dad, is the main antagonist of the Psycho Series and The Devil Inside series and the central antagonist of the 2018 graphic novel, Psycho Kid vs Psycho Dad.

Jeff Sr. is Jesse and Jeffrey Ridgway Jr.'s father. He is a stubborn, hardworking man who owns a landscaping business. Initially a laid-back and loving family man, Jeff gets increasingly frustrated with his sons' inability to get along with each other, and with Jesse's gaming passion, disrespect, and refusal to get a job. Jeff often breaks Jesse's game consoles and other items in fits of rage, and has little patience with Jesse in general. Jeff and Jesse's destruction of each other's items becomes more and more common as the series progresses. Due to Jesse constantly lying, being disrespectful, and negatively manipulating situations, Jeff eventually loses all trust in his son, and slowly grows obsessively controlling over his life. His ultimate goal is to make Jesse a man - someone who is able to get out of the house, work a conventional manual labor job, and make wise choices when living on his own. Jesse, who wants nothing to do with his father's positions and would rather live his own way, is just as stubborn, which leads to never-ending conflict between the two. This conflict spills into Jeff's marriage, with his wife being fed up with the way Jeff handles situations; she eventually reaches a breaking point and divorces him. Initially Jeff tries to get her back, but he eventually grows bitter towards her, indicating that their marriage will likely never be restored. Jesse ends up falling into a mental breakdown, and ultimately kills Jeff with the latter's own revolver, which Jesse stole many weeks earlier. This happens right before the series finale, when Jesse leaves his old life behind and flees to Switzerland.

However, despite his death, his persona as "Psycho Dad" (the name inherited to him by Jesse) was still alive, and post-mortem, he controlled his Master Realm self. When he was resurrected by Devil, he vowed vengeance against Jesse for his murder.

He is portrayed by his real-life counterpart, Jeffrey Ridgway Sr..

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Jeffrey Sr. was born on November 15, 1962. As a child, his father forced him and his brother Chris to work. Jeffrey Sr. and Chris would often play sports outside as children because of being kicked out of the house early in the morning. At the age of 16, Jeffrey Sr. would sneak into the arcade to play video games only to one day be caught by his father and punished with physical violence. His father strongly disproved of Jeffrey Sr. playing video games, which would later influence his own parenting towards his two sons.[2]

Psycho Series[]

In 2012, on the verge of Christmas, Jeffrey Sr., with the help of his older son Jeffrey Ridgway Jr. managed to catch Jesse playing Xbox on his TV. In turn, he burned the Xbox in the fireplace and lashed at Jesse.[3]

On May 26, 2014, Jeffrey Sr. was shown the events of Psycho Dad Destroys Xbox on Jeffrey Jr.'s laptop by Jesse and in turn destroyed the laptop with a nearby axe.[4]

Jesse's Job Concern[]

Windows smashed

Jeff Sr. smashes Jesse's Mitsubishi Montero

On August 6, 2014, Jeffrey Sr. steals Jesse's video games from his room for Jesse playing them without getting out of his room and mows them over as Jesse screams in agony.

On September 2, 2014, Jeffrey Sr.'s TV was destroyed by Jesse after Jeffrey Jr. confiscated Buzz Simkins's Game Boy SP. The next few episodes, including Psycho Dad Drowns Xbox, Psycho Dad Wrecks Car, Psycho Dad Chainsaws Xbox One & Psycho Kid Ruins Thanksgiving are confrontations regarding Jesse's Job. More events start to take place, including Jeff Sr. shattering Jesse's 100,000 Subscriber Play Button.

Jesse's Exile[]

Unbeknownst to Jeff Sr., Jesse and Jeff Jr. were plotting a plan to get revenge by smashing his childhood trophies for smashing Jesse's 100,000 Subscriber Play Button. As the two put the plan in motion, Jeff Sr. takes full advantage as he uses his grill to burn Jesse's Wii U. As added punishment, Jeff Sr. banishes Jesse from the Ridgway Residence.

During the first week after Jesse's exile, Jeff Sr. proceeded to live normally while Jesse resided in Eagles Landing. Jesse would later go on to take his Easter lunch, ignoring Jeff Sr.'s orders to leave the house before returning back to the camping tent. After Jesse used up the family electricity, which he wasn't allowed to use due to the circumstances of his banishment, Jeff Sr. ran over Eagles Landing with a tractor, forcing Jesse to move to different locations, ultimately going to Jeff Sr.'s brother-in-law Larry Abraham. Meanwhile, Jeff Jr. plans his revenge on Jesse by paintballing The Abraham Household - unbeknownst to Jeff Sr., but the prank backfires.

On May 1st, 2015 - Jesse is kidnapped by Jeff Jr. and is taken back to the Ridgway Residence. Jeff Sr. at first does not approve of him being at his property and is forced to watch a video that prompts him to bring Jesse back in the house and smashing Jeff Jr.'s camera, under the condition that Jesse was to pay monthly rent - to which Jesse accepts.

Unlike Father, Unlike Son[]

Shortly after Jesse was allowed to return to the house, Jeff Sr. requested that Jesse mows lawns with him. Jesse, however, expressed little to no interest in doing the job, and Jeff Sr. reminds him that if he does not uphold the agreement they made, he will be exiled again.

In the same month, Jeff Sr. brought Jesse and Jeff Jr. to the Voros plumbing business to do some jobs. However, Jeff Jr. was filming a video while Jesse was left to carry 12 bags of fertiliser into the truck. Jesse was angered by the fact he was the only one doing the work that he threw a tantrum in the store by breaking supplies that didn't belong to him. Then Jeff Sr.'s friend Kenny, acting as a cop, arrives to the store and arrests Jesse.

The Divorce[]

On November 16, 2015, Jesse was pulled into a prank by Jeff Jr. and Corn, involving a pit and Jesse's PlayStation 4 dangling from a rope. After freeing himself, Jeff Jr. stops Jesse from walking away by slapping the glasses from Jesse's face and then breaking them with his foot. Furious, Jesse then wrestles with Jeff Jr. for a brief period before Corn takes over and Jesse hits Jeff Jr. over the head with a glass bottle and traps him in a cage. Jeff Sr. did not know about the fight initially, until the night before thanksgiving when his wife Theresa told him about what happened between the brothers. Jeff Sr. gets enraged at Jesse for what he did, and then explodes in a fit of rage and destroys various things in Jesse's gaming room in the Morton building, including smashing the TV using a hammer from Fan Mail. Then Jeff Sr. went outside with a baseball bat, with Terri following him. Jeff Sr. then proceeds to smash the driver window of Jesse's car, when Terri proclaims that she wants to divorce him. Jesse and Jeff Sr. tried to stop her from making the decision, but Terri insists that it is her final decision. She then packs up her things and, right before she drives away, she calls Jeff Sr. a psychopath and she can't live with him anymore.

Pep Talk with Jesse[]

"This world is going to eat you up. It's going to eat you the fuck up, it really is. And you don't even realize it! It's embarrassing to me, It's embarrassing to the family!"
"What family?"
"What family? The family you drove apart with all your lying, deceit: I don't know what to do. I don't know what else to do, I really don't, its driving me frickin' crazy! I'm trying, I really am and your mom's left. And it's all your fault. All your fault!!!"
―Jeffrey Ridgway Sr. and Jesse Ridgway

Fall and Treatment[]

Jeff Sr

Injured Jeffrey Sr.

On January 31, 2016, Jeff Sr. is shown around Jesse's new house, where he spotted a Super Nintendo Entertainment System on a shelf. Thinking it belongs to Jesse, he throws it out into the backyard, proclaiming Jesse needs to give up gaming. Despite this, he proceeds to help Larry and Corn try to move furniture out of the house, only to trip down the porch of the house, injuring himself. Several days later, he was taken to the hospital to treat his injury, which was revealed to be a burst hernia that required surgery.

Fan Mail Destroyed and Revenge[]

On February 24th, 2016, Jeff Sr. confiscated all of Jesse's fan mail, then attempts to burn it all. Before he could do so however, he is stopped by Jesse, who tries to stop and convince him not to burn his fan mail. Despite his best efforts, his father eventually sets the fan mail on fire and walks away, telling his son to let it burn.

On March 13th, 2016, he confiscated all of Jesse's video games and consoles and threatens his son, saying that he will destroy them all unless Jesse agrees to "grow the hell up" and get a job. Jesse pleaded for his father to not destroy his games, as he once again reaffirms that YouTube is a job and that he had been helping him around the house, although this does not faze Jeff Sr., who gradually inserts games from Jesse's Wii U collection into a woodchipper, where they are promptly shredded to pieces. Despite this, Jesse still refused to get a job, which lead to Jeff Sr. inserting his Wii U and Gamepad into the Woodchipper, where they are destroyed as well. It's not until Jeff Sr. pulls out his PS4 and threatens to destroy it as well that Jesse finally complies, and agrees to get a job by the end of the month. Satisfied, Jeff Sr. tosses the PS4 back into the box and leaves, reminding Jesse to keep his promise to avoid further trouble.

Holding Jesse Captive[]

After destroying Uncle Larry's RV, Jeff Sr. forces Jesse back home and eventually watches a few of the Psycho Videos, which worries Jesse. Worried that his dad could destroy his camera, he makes the rash decision to blame Corn, which ultimately causes Jeff Sr. to kick him out, leaving Jesse alone.

Jeff-Solitary!

Jeff Sr. isolates Jesse inside a confined closet

Sometime after, Jeff Sr. catches Corn sneaking into Jesse's room, which prompts him to chase him down. After a short chase, brings Jesse back only to place him into the fan mail room, telling him he will only be allowed to make videos in there and for a short period of time, this infuriates Jesse, but he is powerless to do anything about it. However, little did he know that a psychotic Jesse was plotting to murder him as revenge for the pain that Jeff Sr. caused him, destroying his son's last shred of sanity.

Death[]

Jesse-WhatAreTheNumbers

Jesse threatens Jeff Sr. to give out the safe combination with his own revolver

"I failed you, I failed you as a father. I wish it would've been better... I should have never shown you those video games; Look what it made you!"
―Jeffrey Ridgway Sr.'s last words to Jesse Ridgway

While Jeffrey Sr. is playing a video game on the NES, Jesse comes upstairs with a gun, pointing straight at him. He demands the code to the safe so he can retrieve his money and flee. At first, he refuses to tell him, but finally gives in. Jesse then asks if he and or Jeffrey Jr. have any last words for him before he leaves.

Psycho Dad's corpse

Jeff Sr.'s dead body

In his final moments, Jeffrey Sr. replied that he failed him as a father after showing him the concept of video games, feeling guilt for showing him them in the first place. Jesse states that it wasn't the video games, but Jeffrey Sr. who was directly responsible for all of the pain he had inflicted to Jesse. Having said that, Jesse ends up shooting his father straight in the chest, murdering him. Finally, after two years of torturing Jesse to the point of insanity and psychopathy, Jeffrey Ridgway Sr. was dead.[5]

The Mirror Realm[]

Post-Mortem[]

RIP-Jeff

Jeff Sr.'s corpse

His death had effected Jesse even after he escaped to Switzerland with Jeff Sr.'s money. Because of his guilt, Jesse had attempted suicide and almost hung himself, but hesitated and backed out.

Instead, he later proceeded to record one final vlog for his channel, reflecting on his actions before signing off for good, RiDGiD studios style. As for Jeff Sr. himself, his dressed-up corpse was mysteriously brought to Switzerland with Jesse.[6]

Freed by the Devil & Revival[]

Jeff Sr. is revived by the Devil

"I will not be silenced."
―The Devil as Psycho Dad after Jeffrey Ridgway Sr. puts on the necklace.[src]

After the Devil revived various antagonistic characters from Jesse Ridgway's mind through the use of the Necklace and some gems, he transformed into Jeff Sr.'s "Psycho Dad" character when he was revived after Jeff Sr. put on the Necklace. Upon being revived, The Devil began vowing vengeance against Jesse Ridgway, with Psycho Dad recalling his murder. Sometime after he was revived, Psycho Dad gave the gun used by Psycho Kid to a mobster named Solomon who later used the same gun to kill one of his henchmen, John.

Psycho Kid vs Psycho Dad[]

Psycho dad

Jeff Sr. as a hulk-like creature after being revived by The Devil.

The book starts off in a secret facility where Jeff is being revived. He wakes up and wonders what happened until the vision of Jesse with a gun to his face pops in his head. Jeff is angered by this and vows revenge while transforming into a hulk-like creature. Jeff destroys a wall and heads to New Jersey with Jeffery's house being his destination.

Upon seeing Jeff, Jeffery is happy his father was still alive and they both contemplate on where Jesse is. Jeffery spots a video game Expo pamphlet which gives Jeff the idea to head there with Jeffery by his side with powers that give him the ability to turn into a wolf. Jeff asks Jesse to show himself and he does. They fight with the outcome being of Jeff savagely beating Jesse to a bloody mess and Jesse only being able to escape with the help of his eagle named Talon. Jesse is than tasked with gaining three elixirs to finally take down Psycho Dad.

Once Jesse gains the third elixir at the now dilapidated Ridgway Residence, Jeff is about to kill Jesse when Terry, Melissa and Uncle Chris show up and beg him to stop. Jeff hears them out and turns back to normal and Jesse knocks him out with an injection. Jeff later wakes up and discovers that he is tied down to a metal bed in Larry's facility and this is currently being live streamed on the McJuggerNuggets channel. Larry tells Jesse to kill Jeff but Jesse refuses. Tom then appears and reveals his grand plan of reviving Psycho Dad to get rid of Psycho Kid due to Tom's jealousy of Jesse. Talon then scratches Tom's eyes out and Tom nearly falls into "The Void", a portal Tom had created. Jeff then stomps on Tom's hand which causes Tom to plummet into an unknown fate. Jeff than destroys the facility and a guilt ridden Larry runs away. Jeff later gets trapped under a pile of rubble and begs Jesse for help. Jesse rescues his father and they both head back home. At their home Jeff hugs Jesse and says he is proud of Jesse but Jesse still needs a job and will mow lawns. This causes both of them to laugh it out and the story of Psycho Kid vs Psycho Dad finally concludes.

Personality[]

Jeff Ridgway Sr. is an outdoorsy, hardworking person who owns a landscaping business. Most of his work involves mowing lawns, chipping wood, or laying mulch; he appreciates people who get out of the house, meet people in person, and work for a living. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor sports and activities like golf, working in the yard, grilling, camping with his friends (George Stahlberger being one), and occasionally hunting or watching TV. He seems to generally get along well with friends, business partners, and people outside his family unless they disrespect him. Family drama is his worst nightmare. He does not appreciate being called "Psycho Dad" by anyone, especially strangers and makes that clear, for example, in Psycho Dad Scares Children. He appears to have a good relationship with his side of the family, though we almost never see them on camera.

Toward his sons, Jeff Sr. is often overbearing, autocratic, and stubborn. He prefers complete control over most situations in his house, which leads to constant conflict with his younger son Jesse, who would rather do things his own way. Jeff Sr. insists that both his sons get jobs in order to continue living at home after college; he wants them to get out in the world and work. Jeff Sr. is very traditional and conservative when it comes to jobs and refuses to believe that YouTube and gaming is a career since he never sees Jesse leave his room and perform manual labor. He can't fathom how people can just sit in their room and make money; he doesn't think that this is a respectable or sustainable job. The fact that Jesse mocks and berates his father online does not help the situation, and probably closes down Jeff Sr.'s ability to appreciate his son's work. Despite Jesse's constant disrespect towards his father, Jeff Sr. uses (in his own way) extreme, but good intended methods to get his son to go down the path he preferred. He believes he knows what is best for his son and wants him to learn to work hard; he thinks Jesse is letting life pass him by. Yet, Jeff Sr.'s argumentative tendencies and destructive temper work against him much of the time. Both he and Jesse have violent tendencies, and when combined, their arguments can get very heated. Despite having no problem destroying his sons' items in fits of rage, Jeff Sr. usually restrains himself from harming anyone physically. When his sons do what he says and don't cause drama, Jeff Sr. tends to have a calm and more relaxed personality.

Jeff Sr. appreciates honesty. He has a big problem when either of his sons (or anyone) lies to him or disrespects him, either in person or online. With the exception of the events surrounding Psycho Kid Gets Arrested, Jeff Sr. is usually straight up with his family. However, Jesse lies to his father constantly and talks badly about him online, and thus Jeff Sr. adopts a more and more controlling personality over time. Although he gets very extreme and eventually obsessive about it, Jeff Sr. believes that the only way he can trust Jesse is through managing and controlling every detail of his life. Jeff Sr. generally gets along well with his son Jeffrey Jr. however, because the latter gets a job that Jeff Sr. respects, because Jeffrey Jr. usually makes an effort to help around the house (which Jesse seldom does), and because Jeffrey Jr. doesn't usually lie to him. The two do fight on occasion, but this is rare.

Jeff Sr. has a very low opinion of YouTube; nor does he understand it well. He mainly dislikes it because of Jesse portraying him negatively on the internet, and because Jesse puts all the family "dirty laundry" out for the world to see. He often complains about his sons' filming and expresses strong dislike for their pranking and immature behavior. He makes it clear that he wishes his family could just get along and quit messing with each other. Jeff Sr. is portrayed online by Jesse as a psychopath, which angers him. While many of Jeff Sr.'s actions are indeed questionable, overly violent, and unnecessary, many times he is provoked into this behavior directly by Jesse's own destructive or manipulative actions. Both are at fault for different reasons and at different times. Ultimately, Jesse murders his father, which obviously crosses a line.

Before his death, Jeff Sr. finally spoke out regarding his actions, telling his son while at gun point "...I failed you as a father, I wish it would have been better..." showing signs of regret, though blaming video games primarily and not himself.

Powers and Weaknesses (Graphic Novel)[]

  • Transformation: After being resurrected by Tom Abraham, Jeff could transform into a Hulk-like being and become back to human form anytime he wants, In his Hulk form, he could destroy anything he wants like, throwing a big screen TV at his own son.
  • Superhuman Strength: Jeff's primary power is his immense superhuman strength. His strength increases with his anger, thus making it essentially immeasurable. His incredible strength allows him to break anything he wants with a single punch, And as seen in New York City Cataclysm, he stopped a moving boat by grabbing it and threw it to Jesse, causing him to fall into the water and bumping onto the surface. He could even stomp on the ground and destroys it in the process. Destroying video games also makes him stronger.
  • Superhuman Speed: Regardless of his size, Jeff's superhuman strength of his legs allow him to run at speeds that are far beyond the natural physical limits of a human being. He also could jump far as he did so when he found out Jesse is at the Gaming Expo.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Jeff has substantially greater endurance than a normal human, allowing him to run and fight for a long time.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Should he receive damage that penetrates his extreme durability, his biology has a very high rate of cellular regeneration. Grievous bodily harm has also proven to be a trigger for Jeff's transformations, and he has recovered from otherwise fatal injuries sustained in his normal form. After Jesse knocked him out with a baseball bat, he is able to regenerate fast and get back up to fighting.

Weaknesses[]

  • Jesse's sonic scream: As seen, in New York City Cataclysm, Jesse, using the power of the second elixir, is able to emit a large sonic scream that completely blew Jeff away, hurting his hernia.
  • Electricity: Not all physical dangers can't hurt him, as seen in the fifth chapter of the Novel, His son, Jeffrey Jr. using a cable of electricity to zap him and get the Halo helmet off his face that was plopped on by Jesse.
  • Jesse's superhuman punches: Jeff himself has superhuman punches, but from other people, he could be launched back by a superhuman punch.
  • Baseball bat: Not all tools or weapons can't hurt him as seen in, Psycho Family Reunion, Jesse used a baseball bat to hit his face and knock him out.

Relationships[]

Jesse Ridgway[]

Jeff Sr. and Jesse have a volatile relationship. Jesse and Jeff Sr.'s relationship is the core conflict in the Psycho Series. Each of them are at fault for this in different ways. Both Jeff Sr. and Jesse have destructive tendencies and do not trust each other, and this leads to major conflicts. Neither wants to accept the other's point of view and each insists his way is the best way. Jesse often lies to his father and knows how to manipulate and push Jeff Sr.'s buttons by provoking him, and Jeff Sr. is very closed-minded in many ways toward Jesse's dreams.

The main point of conflict is Jesse's gaming addiction and constant filming. Jeff Sr. complains all the time about Jesse or Corn having the camera on, but he generally doesn't actually stop them from filming, despite threatening to numerous times. Jeff Sr. doesn't consider gaming or Jesse's filming to be a real job; he says he can't fathom how someone can be famous and make money while never coming out of their room. Jeff Sr. tries to encourage Jesse to get what he considers to be an actual job, while Jesse argues that he already has one. Jeff Sr. considers getting out of the house and performing some sort of labor to be a real job, while Jesse insists that as long as he's making money, he has a job, even if he just sits in his room all day gaming. Jeff Sr., however, is concerned that this is not healthy. Neither will budge on the issue for most of the series, leading to constant conflict. Eventually, Jesse is forced to get a job and at least partially accept his Dad's wishes because he lives in his Dad's house, but he does so reluctantly and eventually quits and keeps doing what he wants. This leads to more serious arguments.

Despite their constant disagreements and verbal abuse towards one another, Jesse and Jeff Sr. almost never come to blows. Most of their arguments simply involve yelling at each other, and/or breaking each other's possessions. While Jeff Sr. has no problem destroying Jesse's video game consoles, he is rarely a physically abusive person. The only major time he takes physical violence too far is in Psycho Dad Demolishes Gaming Room. Otherwise, Jeff Sr. and Jesse have shoved each other on a few occasions in fits of rage, but that's as far as it goes. Several characters, namely Jeffrey Jr. and Uncle Chris, are much harder on Jesse physically than Jeff Sr. is. Jesse also has no problem destroying his Dad's possessions, but he doesn't generally get into physical fights with his Dad because of his health problems and because he knows he will get thrown out of the house.

Jesse has essentially no respect for Jeff Sr. and is prone to trash-talking his father online, using very derogatory language against him and ridiculing him for his "old-world" perspectives. This disrespect on Jesse's part comes out many times when they argue, which further fuels the disagreement. The fact that Jesse calls him "Psycho Dad" online and talks trash about him upsets Jeff Sr. and provokes him, many times, into fits of rage. Even Jeffrey Jr. tells Jesse off for talking so badly about his Dad, threatening to show Jeffrey Sr. footage of Jesse insulting him unless Jesse gives Jeffrey Jr. shoutouts.

Ultimately, Jeff Sr. has an overbearing attitude and a desire to control Jesse and tell him how to live his life and what kind of job he should have. While he does seem to want the best for his son and pushes him to work hard and be successful, he is so closed-minded and harsh that Jesse loses respect for him. Ultimately, Jesse proves to his Dad that he can make money with YouTube, but Jeff Sr. simply doesn't trust him after being lied to so many times, and this distrust is probably why he gets so controlling and focused on forcing his son to get a job that he can keep track of.

Jesse and Jeff Sr. seem to only fight on occasion at first, but the fights escalate considerably after Psycho Dad Shreds Video Games. During this period in the Psycho Series, we don't see as many vlogs, just the major fights. Both Jesse and Jeff Sr. are at fault in different videos for overreacting and destroying each other's possessions.

Jeff Sr. and Jesse's relationship seems to reach a breaking point after the events of Psycho Dad Grills Wii U when Jesse smashes his father's trophies and flips his grill, Jeff Sr. reacts by burning Jesse's Wii U, and Jesse ends up getting kicked out of the house for a month.

After the events of Psycho Dad Reacts to One Million Juggies, the two appear to have slightly mended their relationship but tensions still exist between the two. Jeff Sr. charges Jesse rent and makes him help him mow lawns for free, saying that he needs to understand the concept of making real money. Jesse resents the free labor, calling it slavery. In the events of Psycho Kid Gets Arrested, Jesse throws a tantrum in a plumbing store, and his Dad sets up his friend Kenny to dress up as a fake cop and arrest Jesse to teach him a lesson. Jesse gets angry at his Dad after finding out that he lied to him about it, and he vents his anger in Psycho Family Therapy.

Jesse manipulated Jeff Sr. into digging a hole, which Jesse pranked Jeffrey Jr. into falling into. Jeff Sr. became very angry at Jesse for lying and manipulating, and kicked down the door to his room and knocked over many of his possessions, then kicked him out of the house. He allowed Jesse to come back to their house after the events of Psycho Last Supper, but that didn't mean their relationship was perfect. After getting back in the house this second time, Jeffrey Sr. continues to charge Jesse rent.

In Psycho Kid's Birthday Bash, Jeff Sr. thought that Theresa had given Jesse a gift from both of them. Upon seeing that Theresa had bought Jesse a Wii U, Jeff Sr. became furious and threw it at his back door. Jesse then smashes the door in a fit of rage and leaves the house for a time. This event certainly adds to the tension between the two.

Later on, with Jeff Sr.'s birthday coming up, Jesse loudly asks his dad what he wants over and over again, as well as bothering his brother about what he is getting their dad, and Jeff Sr. becomes obviously annoyed by all the drama. Eventually he says, "Just give me peace and quiet." Jesse asks his dad if he would like the leftover tools and spackle from the room construction in the Morton Building, and Jeff responds strongly that he doesn't want that. Jesse's mom also tells him that getting his dad used stuff isn't a nice idea. Nonetheless, Jesse decides to give a bucket of used tools to his dad anyway, and thus the events of PSYCHO DAD'S BIRTHDAY! take place, with Jeff Sr. getting somewhat annoyed with Jesse's gift, after already having told him he didn't want it. Jesse later gives his dad a Lowe's gift card for $25, which he seems slightly more pleased with.

Jeff Sr. gets a camera security system from Jeff Jr. on his birthday, and initially installs it in and around his house with the intention of protecting himself and his family. However, after Jesse lies to him repeatedly and Jeff Sr. begins to lose more trust in his son, he installs cameras inside Jesse's bedroom and in his place in the Morton Building. The cameras stay up for a few months, until Christmas, when Jeff Sr. decides to take them out of Jesse's rooms.

After Theresa separates from Jeff Sr., Jesse spends a good deal of time trying to hide her whereabouts from Jeff Sr., which causes more tension between the two. Jeff Sr. wants to talk things out with her and she refuses for a long time. He gets angry at Jesse in FATHER KNOWS BEST! for lying to him and claiming he didn't know where his mom went after she left Larry's. He and Jesse have conflict during the events of AUNT MELISSA FIGHTS PSYCHO DAD!, when Jeff Sr. goes over to the Stahlberger Residence to talk to Theresa and gets into a fight with Melissa. Jesse yells at him afterwards and they have a brief but heated argument. In DIAL M FOR MOTHER, Jesse calls his mom and gives the phone to Jeff Sr. and films the whole time, despite Jeff Sr. telling him to stop and asking for a private conversation with his wife. Jesse insists on being present to make sure "things stay in line," which irritates his father. Finally, in TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION?, Theresa and Jeff Sr. end up having an in-person conversation. Jesse follows his father with the camera to film the whole thing, despite Jeff Sr. begging him not to beforehand. When he discovers Jesse's presence with the camera, Jeff Sr. gets very angry at Jesse for his lack of respect for their privacy.

In Psycho Dad's Drunken Rant, Jeff Sr. says that sometimes he is ashamed that Jesse is his son and blamed him for his mother leaving the house, further straining their relationship.

In Psycho Kid Moves Out, Jesse withdraws $30,000 from the bank to buy Buzz's house. Jeff Sr. takes the money and locks it in his gun safe, insisting that it should belong to him, as Jesse made the money off videos that Jeff Sr. was in, and he didn't give Jeff Sr. a cut of the money. Jeff Sr. also argues that he has never given Jesse permission to film him and make money off him. Jesse freaks out and fights with Jeff Sr. until Jeffrey Jr. and Uncle Larry calm him down. Jesse decides to not take legal action, knowing that Jeff Sr. has a strong case against him. Yet, over the course of the next several months, Jesse repeatedly tries to break into the safe to get the money back. This disputed money becomes a central conflict between Jesse and Jeff Sr. until the end of the series, thus becoming a serious damaging factor in their relationship.

When Jesse moves back into Jeff Sr.'s house after being kicked out of Aunt Jackie's House by Theresa, Jeffrey and Jesse have a heart-to-heart about it, and both agree that Theresa is being extremely selfish. In other episodes, Jeffrey Sr. repeatedly tells Jesse that he doesn't think Jesse is capable of living on his own.

In SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE!, Jesse and Jeff Sr. go head-to-head once again. Jeff Sr. asks Jesse to help clean up stuff around the house, and Jesse throws a small temper tantrum and dumps stuff on the ground, asking why he should do anything for his dad when he stole his money. Jeffrey Jr. berates him for this and convinces him to pick the items up. He tells Jesse to actually try to be helpful since he lives in his dad's house. Jesse finally relents and apologizes to his father, which quickly calms the argument and Jeff Sr. becomes much more relaxed towards his son.

In I'M A DEAD MAN!, Jesse ruins Jeff Sr.'s wood-chipper with Jeff Sr.'s backhoe. Jeff Sr. had simply asked Jesse to pile up some brush manually, but Jesse decides to take the backhoe without permission and messes everything up. This event causes tension, as Jeff Sr. has to rent a chipper immediately because he needs it for work, and eventually he has to buy another. He also becomes concerned for the safety of his machinery.

In the Odd Jobs Series, Jeff Sr. and Jesse fight a good deal because Jeff Sr. finally forces Jesse to get out of the house and get what he considers to be a real job. Jesse tries a few places and messes up each time, finally reaching their contract deadline without holding a job. Jeff Sr. gives him an extra week, and Jesse once again fails to get a job. Jeff Sr. thus forces Jesse to work at McCann's Farm with his brother Chris, and the two spend a good deal of time pushing Jesse to learn to work hard. Jesse ends up enjoying the job, but still manipulates the situation to do as little and as light work as possible. Chris and Jeff Sr. get annoyed by this and push Jesse often, many times far too hard and harshly, to actually try and do a great job. Jesse ends up quitting the Farm and Jeff Sr. responds with extreme measures.

In FORBIDDEN LOVE!, Jeff Sr. banishes Jesse's girlfriend from the house. Jeffrey Sr. is angry at Jesse for damaging Warrior's truck in BIG FORKING MISTAKE!, and insists that Jesse work to pay it off. He says that Jesse is being lazy by taking off a week after getting his farm job, and thus says that his girlfriend is a bad influence.

In Psycho Dad Demolishes Gaming RoomJeff Sr. tears down Jesse's room in the Morton Building with Jesse and Corn inside at the time as revenge for Jesse quitting his job with Chris Ridgway, putting their relationship at a point of no return.

In O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?, he bans him for going to Larry's house because he doesn't want him getting "tied up in everyone's shit."

When Jeff Sr. finds out that Jesse lied to him and went to see his girlfriend's graduation when Jesse said he was with Mark the whole weekend, Jeff Sr. cleans out most of Jesse's belongings except for his bed in his room and puts it in storage, straining their already permanently damaged relationship even more. In RIPPLE EFFECT! *PSYCHO UPDATE* he hijacks Jesse's car and takes it to an undisclosed location assuming that he and Larry set up the pool destruction.

After the events of Psycho Dad Watches McJuggerNuggets, Jeff Sr. forces Jesse to film in the storage closet where the fan mail used to be stored, and for a maximum of 40 minutes. Jesse then slowly descends into madness.

Their relationship finally got to the lowest point in Psycho Kid Kills Father, where Jesse, driven mad by his own mental condition and the overbearing abuse of his father, as well as wanting his stolen money back, came upstairs to where Jeff Sr was, and after a bunch of arguing, Jesse finally killed his father, ending Jeff's reign of terror over Jesse.

During the events of Psycho Kid vs Psycho Dad, they spent the whole book fighting and nearly killing each other, until the end when Jesse chose not to kill his father. Jesse is about to leave the facility Larry built when Psycho Dad is trapped under the rubble and Jesse hears Jeff's thought: "Why don't you love me?". Jesse decided to rescue Jeff and both of them were finally able to reconcile their relationship by going home, hugging and making jokes along the way.

Jeffrey Ridgway Jr. []

Jeff Sr. appears to get along rather well with his older son Jeffrey Jr. It could be that because Jeffrey Jr. has a job and doesn't spend most of his time playing video games that Jeff Sr. treats him better. It does seem like Jeff Sr. favors Jeffrey Jr., while Theresa favors Jesse, which causes problems in the family. Jeff Sr. appreciates Jeffrey Jr.'s willingness to work hard and put effort out there, while he sees Jesse as being too lazy and is constantly annoyed by this.

Jeff Sr. did show anger towards Jeffrey Jr. during the events of Psycho Dad Raids Stream, Psycho Dad Crashes WoW LAN Party, Psycho Family Halloween, and Psycho Dad Reacts to One Million Juggies. The two apparently made up soon after as they are seen tormenting Jesse together in Psycho Dad Buries Video Games. Despite getting along with his older son, Jeffrey Sr. repeatedly expresses irritation over Jeffrey Jr. and Jesse's immature fighting and pranking. Often, he asks them, "Why can't you freaks cut me a break sometime?"

In PRISONER OF WAR! *PSYCHO UPDATE*, the true nature of their relationship is revealed as Jeff Sr. forced Jeffrey Jr. to do things he wanted him to do. Because of this, Jeffrey Sr. can be considered the true main antagonist of the Psycho Series. Jeffrey Jr. also explains that the reason why he gets along with his father well is that he knows how to deal with him. Jeffrey Jr.'s calm personality and his ability to listen to his Dad are large contributing factors to their decent relationship.

Jeff Sr. was reluctant to see his son move out in BYE BYE BIGBRUDDA!. He states that Jeffrey Jr. is "the only hope for the family."

Their relationship was even more strained in Psycho Kid Kills Father where Jeff Sr. Angrily questions why Jeff Jr. is filming Jesse threating him at gunpoint.

In the Graphic Novel, they spent the book helping each other hunt down Jesse, turning Jeffrey into a werewolf in the process.

Theresa Ridgway[]

Jeff Sr. and Theresa were once a married couple, but have separated and are divorced. While they once seemed to have a healthy, loving relationship, their relationship has visibly deteriorated over the course of the Psycho Series.

Theresa does not approve of Jeff Sr.'s aggressive tactics and she feels that he is a bad influence on their sons, especially Jesse. They have argued about Jeff Sr.'s behavior in Psycho Dad Drowns Xbox, Psycho Dad Chainsaws Xbox One, Psycho Dad Grills Wii U, Psycho Family Therapy, Psycho Dad Launches Wii, and in Psycho Kid's Birthday Bash. Jeff Sr. becomes angry at Theresa for buying their son a Wii U and he destroys it, which in turn, makes Theresa angry enough to call him an idiot. Jeff Sr. disagrees with Theresa enabling Jesse and buying him gaming consoles, and he believes that Jesse manipulates her. Theresa often takes Jesse's side over her husband's, which causes tension between the two and leads Jeff Sr. to blame Jesse for the deterioration of their relationship.

As of Psycho Mom Divorces Husband, Theresa leaves the house, as she has reached her tolerance limit with Jeff Sr.'s behaviors. Jeff Sr. makes constant efforts to get Theresa back, indicating that he does love her, but his methods are often too volatile for her to even consider coming back to his house.

In WELCOME BACK, JESS!, after hearing the true story of why Jesse moved back in, Jeffrey Sr. has become agitated and frustrated with the kind of person Theresa has turned into, going as far as to call her a bitch. He then states to Jesse he is "purging" anything that resembles Theresa in the house, showing that the relationship is broken beyond repair.

In PSYCHO DAD UNDERGOES SURGERY!, Jeffrey Sr. shows he still cares about Theresa; he asks Jesse to call her and let her know what is going on.

In the Graphic Novel, Terry is by Jeff's bedside worried about him, showing that she still cares.

Larry Abraham[]

Jeffrey Sr. and Larry start out with a strong relationship; they are almost like brothers. During their childhoods, Larry and Jeffrey were close friends and grew up together. They may have played in baseball tournaments together, as when Jeffrey tells Larry about the destroyed trophies during PSYCHO DAD FIGHTS UNCLE LARRY!, he describes them as "our trophies, Larry." Also, it may have been Larry who introduced Jeffrey to Terry. The pair maintained a good relationship throughout adulthood, but it began to decline shortly after Jesse began staying at Larry's house, after his first banishment from The Ridgway Residence.

Since then, their relationship deteriorated. Larry taking Jesse under his wing is a major source of their conflict, as Jeffrey Sr. thinks that Larry is just sheltering Jesse and telling him what he wants to hear, rather than what he actually needs to hear. Jeffrey Sr. accuses Jesse of manipulating Larry and doesn't like the way he enables him. When Larry comes over to put a lock on Jesse's bedroom door, Jeffrey Sr. takes offense to this because Larry came into his house and messed with his door without even calling him. On multiple occasions they argued, particularly in Psycho Dad Busts Down Door and Psycho Dad Launches Wii. Despite the state of their relationship, Larry was shown to still somewhat care for Jeff. Larry invited The Ridgway family to his home in Psycho Last Supper, and was willing to help Jeffrey after his injury in Psycho Dad Chucks Super Nintendo.

Their first major altercation in The Psycho Series was during Psycho Dad Trashes Store, where Larry threatened him with a pole if he did not leave the store. When Jesse began working for Larry, Jeff ordered him to quit his job, as he thinks Larry mollycoddles Jesse, and is easily manipulated by him.

Later, Jeffrey went on to destroy Larry's RV at Melissa Stahlberger's request. Upon learning this, Larry went into a fury of rage and destroys his own lounge. It was very out of character for Larry, and Jesse noted how he had never seen him so angry. The next day, during the events of CUSTODY BATTLE!, Jeffrey Sr. storms into Larry's house with intent of taking Jesse. Jeffrey Sr. and Larry engage into a very heated argument regarding the RV that Jeffrey Sr. demolished the previous day, which then escalates to another argument about the treatment of Jesse. Eventually, Jeffrey Sr. pins Larry against a wall out of anger, though he stops himself from hitting him. Jeffrey Sr. then storms out of the house with Jesse by his side, much to Larry's dismay, and bans Jesse from seeing Larry.

In Psycho Uncle Impacts Pool, Larry destroys the Ridgway's pool after Jesse calls him and tells him that Jeff is near the pool. The result of the high-speed crash into the pool causes Larry to get severely injured. Their relationship at this point is so deteriorated that Jeff Sr. doesn't even help the injured and unconscious Larry despite Jesse's begging. In WHAT I COULDN'T DO... it was revealed that Larry purposely attempted to murder Jeff with his truck in Psycho Uncle Impacts Pool seeing him as a bad person who doesn't deserve to live. When Jeff watched this video in Psycho Dad Watches McJuggerNuggets, he describes Larry as "a piece of shit", and that "he deserved what he got." Throughout the Psycho Series, their relationship has deteriorated from being close friends, to sworn enemies, with Larry even wanting Jeffrey Sr. dead.

In the Psycho Series Graphic Novel, their relationship hasn't improved greatly. Larry wanted Jesse to kill Jeff so he could be Jesse's Father.
